Continuous Quality Improvement: Integrating Five Key Quality System Components; Approved Guideline - Second Editon (NCCLS document GP22-A2) addresses clinical service directors, managers, and supervisory personnel in both the public and private sectors, in any clinical service setting -- from the point-of-care to the largest multidisciplinary clinical facility. Continuous quality improvement (CQI) promotes efficient and effective quality improvement of all clinical service managerial and operational functions. This guideline defines CQI and explains how to implement CQI through important quality system management approaches. To achieve CQI, the clinical service needs to synchronize five quality system components including Quality Planning, Quality Teamwork, Quality Monitoring, Quality Improvement, and Quality Review.
