SAE AMS 2474D-1987 (SAE AMS2474D-1987)

Chemical Treatment For Aluminum Alloys, Low Electrical Resistance Coating ( Reaffirmed: Apr 1994 )

This specification has been declared ?NONCURRENT? by the Aerospace Materials Division, SAE, as of February, 2006. It is recommended, therefore, that this specification not be specified for new designs. ?NONCURRENT? refers to those specifications which have previously been widely used and which may be required on some existing designs in the future. The Aerospace Materials Division, however, does not recommend these specifications for future use in new designs. Similar but not necessarily identical products are covered in the following specifications. However, this listing is provided for information only and does not constitute authority to substitute this specification for the ?NONCURRENT? specification: AMS 2477 Conversion Coating for Aluminum Alloys Low Electrical Resistance Coating This specification establishes the engineering requirements for producing chemical-film coatings on aluminum and aluminum alloys and the properties of such coatings. Primarily for aluminum and aluminum alloys where increased corrosion resistance, improved paint adhesion, or a low-electrical resistance coating is required. Also useful for improving the corrosion resistance and paint adhesion properties of abraded or discontinuous anodized surfaces of aluminum and aluminum alloy parts.
