Steel, Corrosion Resistant, Investment Castings 16Cr 4.1Ni 0.28Cb 3.2Cu Homogenization and Solution Heat Treated or Homogenization, Solution, and Precipitation Heat Treated ( Reaffirmed: Apr 2006 )

This specification covers a corrosion-resistant steel in the form of investment castings. These castings have been used typically for parts requiring good corrosion resistance and strength up to 600 degrees F (316 degrees C), but usage is not limited to such applications. Certain processing procedures and service conditions may cause these castings to become subject to stress-corrosion cracking; ARP1110 recommends practices to minimize such conditions. Where stress-corrosion is considered to be a factor, precipitation heat treatment should be performed at a temperature not lower than 1000 degrees F (538 degrees C).
